Michael has created a flyer for the upcoming workshop. We would like to get the word out to as many people as possible, so if you have suggestions as to where we should post these around town, let us know! Also, if you want to help us out by posting one or two in appropriate locations, we would be grateful!
Thanks!
How about we make LCW bike mecca? For one, what a nice turn: Pierre autos gives way to bicycles. For another, it creates a city wide gathering point for bicyclists. How do we do it? Work with a public/private partnership to create a bicycle corridor connecting LCW to the Burke Gilman (and nicely connecting "lake city" with the lake), maybe roughly along 125th to keep it fairly level. (I'm picturing a fenced pathway with some nice lampposts.) Then create a plan for pedestrian traffic through the urban village. With these spacious auto lots, we could have a fountain gathering point, European style village corridors strung with lights, sidewalk cafes. Along with this plan, maybe we partner with the city to figure out an easy way to get that bike traffic connected with the future light rail link at Northgate. Voila, you have a vibrant, in-city, bike and pedestrian friendly village. A true destination point for folks from all over the city. Are you with me?
ReplyDeleteSo excited about the news of this transition for Lake City, but can't make it Saturday. Are you planning future workshops?
